To continue to raise standards, this year we are focusing on:
- Teaching to the top
- Other than phonics (where pupils are taught in groups according to the sounds they do not yet know), we do not group pupils by ‘perceived’ ability
- Challenge for all pupils
- Personalised plan for pupils with SEND
- Scaffolding for pupils to achieve, without dumbing down the curriculum or our expectations
- Challenging any fixed mind sets
- Deep learning
- Assessments of foundation subjects in the term(s) after the content was taught.
- Focus on science, history, geography and Spanish
- Core learning
- Teachers focus on the core knowledge and only assess this
- Beyond the formal curriculum- core music, works of art, sayings all go towards building cultural capital
